The Blue Lagoon (Bláa Lónið)
The Blue Lagoon is not exactly a lagoon; it’s more like a pale blue 20 ºC water pool that emanate from the Svartsengi Electric plant, at 50 Km southeast from Reykjavik. It is believed that its silica sediments, mixed with an organic mass of dead alga heal psoriasis. Nevertheless, the excessive promotion brings more than the ideal amount of visitors.
Anyways, bathing here is worthy, thanks to the nice sensation that cause the steamy clouds that ascend and open to let you see the electric plant turrets and the landscape covered with moss. Take into consideration having an important quantity of shampoo for several washes because your hair will end very sticky.
It’s possible to use the pool (adults/kids 880/440 Ikr, Open Mon-Sun 9:00-21:00 Jun-Ago, reduced schedule Sep-May) for a maximum time of 3 hours.
From the Reykjavik BSI bus station you can take any of the 4 Grindavik buses that go daily (850 Ikr one-way) to the Blue Lagoon.
